Meet Our Team
Founded in June 2017, NoCo Tutoring & Enrichment is owned and operated by Jacque Morgan and Niel Smosna. After over a decade in the classroom, Jacque and Niel left to raise their own young children and started tutoring a small handful of students to continue their connection to the profession they love. The need for affordable tutoring by trained educators quickly became clear, and the two former teachers embarked on a journey to start their own business, NoCo Tutoring & Enrichment.

We are proud to now employ over a dozen amazing, state-licensed teachers, who bring a wide range of expertise in various grade levels, interventions, and teaching styles. We have supported students from as young as 3 years old through college, and have watched as students all over the learning spectrum have made incredible growth and progress from the individualized and in-depth supports our tutors offer. We are thankful for the opportunity to continue to do what we are most passionate about - helping children succeed.

Why do I love teaching? I LOVE my students (and am still connected with families from when I first started teaching!), and am convinced kids are approximately 847% cooler than grown ups. I’m passionate about relationship-based teaching, and believe that learning happens when a child first feels safe and connected. Cristin Altepeter | Instructor
Teaching Background: It’s been my dream to be a teacher since I can remember! My dad was a college professor and my mom a preschool teacher, so I picked something in-between - elementary school! I taught 4th grade for a handful of years and then when it was time, I chose to homeschool Eden (& we had the BEST time!). During that time, I also started teaching at a homeschool enrichment program and helped homeschool a few families as well. A couple of years ago I took on the challenge of teaching & working with the Boys & Girls Club (& that wore me out!). I’ve taught everything from Kindergarten to high school (& even tutored an AIMS student for several years!)

Why do I love teaching? I love connecting with kids - just where they are! I appreciate how real they are. I like asking questions - about learning and about each student. I believe connecting with students on a personal level is where learning starts. A favorite quote of mine is: “I don’t care how much you know until I know how much you care.” (T. Roosevelt) and I take that into my classrooms and teaching experiences with me. I also love learning along with my students - I won’t hesitate to admit that I don’t have all the answers but that I’m happy to figure things out with them. I love teaching because I love learning! And kids are hilarious!

Erika Perakos | Secondary Instructor
Teaching Background: I've had the incredible privilege of being an educator for a fantastic 17 years! My teaching journey has unfolded throughout the Northern Colorado region. Specializing in secondary education, my focus has been on English and English as a Second Language. Over the past 5 years, I've had the amazing opportunity to teach across all grades and subjects, and let me tell you, every moment has been an absolute joy! In addition to my professional life, my husband and I have embraced the rewarding adventure of homeschooling our own children. It's been a truly fulfilling experience, and I can't wait for many more years of inspiring learning ahead!

Kaley Planansky | Math Instructor
Teaching Background: I attend CSU and I’m majoring in mathematics education. I recently completed a minor in Spanish. I’ve done practicum work at Boltz and Blevins Middle Schools. I’ve tutored middle high school, and college lev math students with NoCo Tutoring for a few years now!
Why do I love teaching? I love teaching because I love connecting with my students and finding creative ways to get concepts across and make learning fun. Seeing the moment in which content clicks is so rewarding! I also have a passion for changing the stigma associated with math. My goal is for students to gain confidence in and excitement for the subject and understand how math applies to their daily lives.

Mallory Neher | Instructor
Teaching Background: San Antonio ISD in Texas (Storm Elementary, KIPP middle school), Round Rock ISD in Texas (Fern Bluff Elementary), Thompson School District in Loveland (Sarah Milner Elementary).

Why do I love teaching? Students need more than knowledge to navigate the world, they need mentors who love them unconditionally and start each day with a clean slate. When children feel safe, so much magic can happen! I love teaching self-regulation and perseverance skills to help students cope with disappointment and build resilience.

Kasey Moss | Special Education
Teaching Background: I earned my Master's in special education while teaching in my own classroom, I have completed the certification courses to be a special education advocate for families, and I am trained in Orton Gillingham and the Science of Reading. I have tutored, mentored, and coached humans ages 2 through adults in schools, competitive robotics, and in supportive housing programs.

Why you love teaching: Teaching is a great fit for the way my brain works because there is always a new activity to complete or something new I learn from or about my students. I also love teaching because school wasn't easy for me socially or academically and I remember how icky that felt. It's important to me to make kids know they are valuable and powerful, despite their social or academic struggles. Plus, kids bring their energy, unique perspectives, and open hearts when they are learning with someone they trust, which is so much more fun than hanging out in an office with boring adults all day long!

Erin Ridge | English Teacher
Teaching Background: The majority of my teaching experience is at the high school level teaching Social Studies and English Language Development. I have an undergraduate degree in History and a masters degree in Linguistically Diverse Education. I have worked with students at all levels from pre-kindergarten through the university level.

Jared Richardson | STEM Education
Teaching Background: 5 Years of Teaching Experience. I have taught everywhere in the Poudre School District! B.S. in Biology and Chemistry, plus two years at Oregon State University for Vet School

Why you love teaching: I love teaching because it allows me to connect with people on a deeper level and give back to the community.

Abby Foster | Special Education
Teaching Background: This is my second year of teaching, but my 5th year of being in the world of education. I spent 4 years in the Poudre School District: I was an instructional paraprofessional at Shepardson Elementary School and Bamford Elementary School for 3 years. I then completed my practicum and student teaching at Bamford, and long-term subbed there as well. I then taught kindergarten at Olander Elementary School. I now teach second grade at Orchard Hill Elementary School in the Weld RE-4 school district, and absolutely love it! I received my BA in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Special Education from UNC in Greeley - go Bears! I plan to go back for my Masters in the near future.

Why you love teaching: I love teaching because I love building long-lasting relationships with students, watching them grow both academically and as people, and including SEL (social-emotional learning) practices and strategies. I truly value my time with my students, and so enjoy watching them succeed and celebrate their wins together!

Elliott Marshall | STEM Education
Teaching Background: 4 Years of Teaching Experience. I taught for 2 years at Project STEM Academy in Boise, ID, teaching secondary math and an engineering elective. 1 year at Greeley Options Program- secondary math. 1 year at High Plains School in Loveland- 7th and 8th grade math. I have a BS in Civil Engineering from, the College of Southern Idaho Non-Traditional Educator Preparation Program

Why you love teaching: I just love to witness the (often quite subtle) moment of pride and joy that results from students struggling through confusion to arrive at comprehension and true understanding of a concept.
